FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBERS

Mike Brannen - Acting Chair

Mike Brannen has had a varied and extensive business career with the co-operative movement in Atlantic Canada providing valuable insight into the world of not-for-profit governance.   He is semi-retired and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Mike is a member of Kings Way Assembly church and was a member of the Kings Way Care Centre steering committee. He has served 3 terms on the deacon board of the church, is its current treasurer, and served as the board chair for Kings Way Care Centre and subsequently the Kings Way LifeCare Alliance from 2001-2011. Mike also currently serves as chair of the Alliance's Development Committee.

 

Keith Dow - Treasurer

Keith Dow was recently elected Treasurer of the Kings Way LifeCare Alliance Foundation. He also served as treasurer of the Kings Way Care Centre Board of Directors during the planning and construction phase of the nursing home. A four-time graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Keith is a retired school principal and former MLA. He is a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation. Keith is active in community affairs, having served as President of the Saint Andrew's Society of Saint John, United Empire Loyalists Association-N.B. Branch and Peninsula Heritage Inc. He has been a Board member of the United Way of Greater Saint John and Big-Brothers-Big Sisters of Saint John. He is a former member of the Canadian College of Teachers. Keith was recently presented with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his years of community service. An active member of the Anglican Church, Keith has served as Lay Vice-Chairman of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Fredericton. Keith and his wife Heather have three married children and nine grandchildren.

 

Naida Antworth - Secretary

Naida is a retired school teacher after spending 29 years in local Junior High and Middle School classrooms. She is a three-time graduate of UNB, Fredericton, N.B. Since retiring, for three years, Naida has volunteered with Seeds International. She has accompanied teams taking a Christian program to schools in three underdeveloped islands of the Caribbean and for the the past several years, has been working with medical teams in the bush of West Africa. Naida is a member of the Calvary Temple, Saint John, N.B.

 

Norman McFarlane - Director

Norman has spent several years in the Insurance Industry – firstly at Royal Insurance, where he spent 40 years and then another 5 years with Huestis & Huestis Insurance. With a keen interest in local politics and issues, Norm then joined the Provincial Government as the Minister of Labour for Training & Employment Development. His desire to make a difference locally prompted him to run and successfully win the seat of Mayor of the City of Saint John from 2004-2008. Norm’s further involvement in the community has seen him on such committee’s as Clerk of Session with Portland United Church, Insurance Institute of New Brunswick, Chairman of the Saint John Airport, New Brunswick Adoption Board, Kidney Foundation-Saint John Chapter, New Brunswick Protestant Orphans Foundation, Vice President-Canada Summer Games-1985 to name a few. Norman is married to Cynthia, has two grown children and three grandchildren
